Once upon a time there was Domaine de la Maqueline, which operated from the late 19th century until 1956. The seven hectares of land remained untouched until it was bought by Wihelmina van Essen de Cazenove in 1989. She replanted the vineyards and renamed it Chateau de Cazenove.
It's located next to the village of Margaux on the Left Bank of Bordeaux. And even though the Left Bank is Cabernet country, Chateau de Cazenove is into the Right Bank tradition of being mostly Merlot. Their 2009 vintage is 66% Merlot and 34% Cabernet Sauvignon.

The nose and palate are assaults of black cherries and blackberries, with a touch of vanilla in the background. In the mouth it's medium bodied with a lush and elegant mouthfeel. It finishes with a silky coating on the teeth, a little tannin on the tongue, and the taste of black cherries with a touch of cigar box.
Pair this wine with lamb, barbecue ribs, a hearty steak and grilled vegetables.
