This is the fourth vintage that I've had of this wine and every time I do it gets better. I gave the 2013 vintage a 2/5, the 2015 vintage a 3/5, and the 2016 vintage a 4.5/5. So, needless to say, I'm pretty excited about tasting this one and seeing where it's going now.
The ABV is 13%, so it's driest of the vintages that I've had, and the color of the wine is a very pale yellow. There's aromas of lychee, ginger ale, lemon-lime soda, lemon thyme, and cilantro. That's a great nose, my friend. On the palate it's medium bodied with an oily mouthfeel that has a little bit of a chalkiness to it, and an acidity that is noticeable but reserved. There's flavors of lychee nut, cantaloupe, kiwi, and a little bit of earthiness / dried leaves that I hadn't detected in previous vintages. Then the finish is impressively long, and even though it's a crisp finish the fruit is still juicy.
I love it! It has so many differences and similarities to the last vintage but it's still just so good. And you know what I think this would go great with? Jalapeno popper sushi. Yes, it exists. Look it up.
