This is 100% Garnacha from the Guardia Miranda and Botiquero vineyards in Somontano, Spain. Pre-fermentation maceration lasted three days, and it went through a slow fermentation at 68°F. Then it saw ten months of aging in new French oak.
The color of the wine is a deep dark garnet leaning more to the purple side. The nose is just phenomenal with aromas of strawberries, cherry liqeuer, raspberries, chocolate, cinnamon, slate, and ethanol. I don't even have to drink this wine to be satisfied. On the palate it's light to medium bodied with chalky tannin and a fruit brightening acidity. The aromas repeat themselves on the flavors but the chocolate really ramps it up on the ethanol hot finish.
Delicious! This is an excellent Garnacha with a nice big fruit forwardness but still some herbalness and rusticness. And yeah, it's $40, but it's worth it!
